GENESIS

We, the researchers, academicians, health workers, agriculturists founded an association in Tours (France) and legally registered in French Law on 13 July 1961 under the name of "International Association of Agricultural Medicine".

In 1978, in harmony with the "Health for All" policy of WHO the name was changed to "International Association of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health (IAAMRH)".

Since then the association has been affiliated - as a international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to World Health Oganisation (WHO), United Nations Economic and Social council, International Labour Organisation(ILO). Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and other specialized institutions of the United Nations as well as the Internal Centre for Pesticide Safety (ICPS).


The International Association of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health (IAAMRH) is an independent association for agricultural and rural health professionals.

Aim of the Association is....
  • Support the WHO goal of "Health for All in the 21st Century".
  • Help improve the status of health of rural communities and to protect the health of the agricultural workers in the spirit of various concerned resolutions of UN bodies such as WHO,ILO,FAO.
  • Help member organizaions adopt a scientific approach in the field of agricultural medicine and rural health and assist in its practical application.
  • Establish effective collaboration with other branches of medicine, health, agricultural, environmental and other related sciences.
  • Study the effects of social , physical and environmental conditions on human health.
APPROACH

We are independent an association for agricultural and rural health professionals. We collaborate with other-health and medical, as well as, scientific associations and their representatives in areas such as agriculture, food industry, ecology, environment protection, pedagogy, economy, etc. We maintain elective collaboration with governments, governmental organisations, professional associations and other groups or individuals interested in the field of agriculture of rural health.

STRUCTURE

The general assembly, held in conjunction with the International Congresses held every three years, elects the executive Board, the President, the next Congress President, the Vice Presidents and the Secretary General of the Association.

PUBLICATION OF JOURNAL

The official publication "Journal of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health", is published by the Association Secretariat.This journal publishes information on activities of IAAMRH members and also provides an opportunity for researchers to disseminate scientific findings.
