REPORT ON THE BOARD MEETING OF THE EUROPEAN CHAPTER OF IAAMRH HELD IN BUDAPEST, MARCH 20, 2004

Objectives
Surveying the current status of the European Chapter and forming a working group for compiling proposal how to improve its activity level; Establishing and formalizing a living cooperation between IAAMRH and the Hungarian Ministry of Health, Social and Family Affaires and the National Institute of Primary Health Care in Hungary;

Finalizing the program of the coming 2nd International conference on Rural Health & First International Conference on Occupational & Environmental Health in Mediterranean, South East and Central European Countries, in Belgrade, 26-29 May.

Agreements All members of the Executive Comittee steadyly agreed in the following:

For the purposes of strenthening the presence and re-vitalizing the European Chapter of the association and increasing the activity of the members, a working group will be formed, headed by Claudio Colosio. Members will be: Sándor Balogh and Hans-Joachim Hannich. The working group will prepare a mid term plan that will be introduced to the EC at the coming board meeting in Belgrade.

As a result of the cooperative work done by President, Ashok V. Patil and Ágnes Simek, a project plan about the correspondence between Cardiovascular risk and Genetics was presented by the president. For the finalization of the project proposal, and in the interest of the exploration of the resources a working group will be established, with three Hungarian and three Indian members. The Hunbgarian participants are: Ferenc Hajnal, Iván Gyárfás, Ágnes Simek. Dr. Patil will name the Indian members in the close future.

Memorandum of Understanding

Due to the ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the International Association of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health(IAAMRH) and the National Institute of Primary Health Care(NIPHC) in Hungary, signed by Dr. Ashok V. Patil (President of IAAMRH) and Dr. Sándor Balogh (Director General of NIPHC), the Secretariat is now hosted by the National Institut of Primary Health Care, Budapest, Hungary. This cooperation has been coordinated and highly supported by the Hungarian Ministry of Health, Social and Family Affaires.

Further agreements

Members all agreed about organizing the coming Executive Board Meeting in Belgrade at the Second International Conference on Rural Health and First International Conference on Occupational and Environmental Health in Mediterraen, Sout East and Central European countries. Taking the Belgrade Conference as a dealine, the newly published Issue of the Journal of Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health will be published within the organization of the Secretariat, in Hungary. Members, taking the presentations of the EC meeting as base materials also agreed to write a scientific article to the Journal. All members at present agreed to have the money of the Secretariat, which was/is still on a polish account transfered to the Secretariat's new account in Hungary.

International Conference on Environment and Health of Rural Populations

The International Conference on Environment and Health of Rural Populations will be carried out between November 14-17 2004 at Estaçăo das Docas Theatre in the city of Belem, settled in the Amazon region of Brazil. The Conference will mainly address the impact of environmental contaminants such as pesticides, mercury, arsenic and other contaminants in Latin America and elsewhere. Invited lectures and research results will be either presented in plennary or poster sessions, and abstracts can be submitted by e-mail (koifman@ensp.fiocruz.br) to the Conference Scientific Committee until September 15, 2004. Nordic Meeting on Agricultural Occupational Health - NJF-SEMINAR NR. no 368

TARGET GROUP

Scientist, researchers, teachers, advisors, R&D and marketing people from the industry, safety engineers and other occupational health personnel, people from insurance companies, authorities, organisations, safety representatives and students as well as farmers and other practitioners.

LANGUAGE

The official language will by English and Scandinavian languages. All manuscripts and presentation must be prepared and presented in English or in a Scandinavian language.

TIME : 29 November - 1 December 2004

CALL FOR PAPERS AND POSTERS

Papers and posters according to the themes of the seminar are welcome. Other suggestions are also invited. Accepted papers and poster abstracts will be printed and distributed to the participants at the beginning of the seminar, and will be published after the seminar as an official report.

DEADLINES

Last day to submit a preliminary registration and title of paper/poster is June 17, 2004. Notice of acceptance will be given July 02, 2004. Last day to submit abstract of paper and/or poster is August 27, 2004. Deadline for registration is October 1, 2004.
